The PREPARED team are working with a range of health care professionals to develop and publish online educational resources to cover discipline-specific skills and knowledge in the care of dementia. We hope in time to provide resources for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dieticians, community nursing and care staff, and many others covering the specific areas that they may have in the care of patients with dementia in primary care. This will complement the broader inter-professional PCT workshop content that is being rolled out to HSE PCTs and primary care clnicians around the country in 2017/2018.
This work will begin with the development of content and launch of two dementia education modules for OTs and SLTs at the end of 2018. We are currently interested in hearing from interested OT and SLTs who might contribute to a number of focus groups to develop appropriate content for the modules, which are being developed by PREPARED, the DSIDC at St James and the HSE.
