There are 55,000 people currently living with dementia in Ireland. With age being the main risk factor for dementia, this number is expected to rise alongside population ageing. People living with dementia will require care and support during the trajectory of their condition and they will use health and social care services. This can also be true for their care-partners.
This website was originally developed by the PREPARED project in University College Cork as an education and resource initiative supporting GP's and Primary Care Teams. The website has since grown to be an on-line resource for all health and social care practitioners working with people living with dementia.
This website includes resources and guidance to support good practice in dementia care. These will be regularly updated by the National Dementia Office, HSE. The website complements www.understandtogether.ie which is an online resource for the general public offering information, service sign-posting and advice on dementia.
