Acute Hospital Care

It is important that we provide appropriate acute hospital care for people with dementia and other cognitively vulnerable people who may require admission to an acute hospital. This includes avoiding unnecessary hospital attendance/admission by having alternative pathways to urgent assessment and treatment, while acknowledging that people with dementia still need to be admitted to hospital on occasion, and indeed have the same right to care in an acute hospital as any other person, and so hospitals need to be able to accommodate them and keep them safe and enabled while in hospital.
