Dementia COVID-19 Resources for Health Professionals Working in Residential Care

These resources have been developed in conjunction with official HSE guidance on COVID-19.  Information for health professionals on COVID-19 and the COVID-19 vaccination programme can be found on the HSE library webpage and on HSE.ie. Information for the general public is also available on HSE.ie

 

1. Managing Isolation & Non-Cognitive Symptoms (NCS) of Dementia in Residential Care Facilities: This guidance is to address issues specifically related to implementing COVID-19 measures for people living with dementia in residential care facilities (RCF) for older people. It is to support staff in the management of non-cognitive symptoms of dementia, including mobilisation, when the person is confirmed or suspected to have COVID-19 or is deemed a close contact. 

 

2. COVID-19: Related Hygiene & the Person Living with Dementia in Residential Care Facilities:  This guidance is to address issues specifically related to implementing COVID-19 measures for people living with dementia in residential care 

 

3. COVID-19 and Dementia: Grieving in Exceptional Times:This guidance is to address issues related to grief during COVID-19  in residential care facilities.

 

4. COVID-19 Dementia & Advance Care Planning in Residential Care Facilities: This document is for Residential Care Facilities for Older People. It specifically addresses issues related to implementing COVID-19 measures for people living with dementia

5. COVID-19: Providing care to Community Dwelling People living with Dementia:This information is to support staff working in community services on issues that have or may arise in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak for people living with dementia and their family carers at home.

 

6. COVID-19 Testing and the Person Living with Dementia in Residential Care: This guidance is to address issues related to testing people with dementia for COVID-19.
